Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also performs music. She was the very first and youngest female to be awarded a British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shankar is a rising young star of the Indian sitar. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. During the first few years of her life she was split her time between London New Delhi. When she was 13 she performed her first show on stage in New Delhi. Later the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, nevertheless, she has an impressive career in recording and performing. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for many years. In 1998, she debuted Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated album Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is vast as she has been in every one of the major stages in the world. Her career doesn't just include music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as the role of a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is still progressing on her path and there will be many more things to come from this talented woman. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England spent a large part of her time between London Delhi. Following her move to California she completed high school. At the age of 9 she began her studies in the piano with her father. The first time she performed on the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences when she accompanied her father during his worldwide tour. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals and making recordings alongside George Harrison. Her talent and musicality have been recognised by British parliament as among the finest at Asian Arts.
